We are thrilled to be part of a new Peer Research and Social Action programme coming to the East Midlands. This project will put young people with lived experience in the lead, designing and conducting research into their peer's experiences of violence and then working together to take action and shape solutions. This exciting project, funded through the Youth Endowment Fund, will see us working in partnership with Streetgames, Parkside High and Freedom Foundation. Go-Getta CIC will be the lead delivery partner in Leicester and Leicestershire.
As part of this project, we will be recruiting 5 young Peer Researchers, who will go on to receive training, support and mentoring to engage directly with a large numbers of young people and consult them on what they believe causes youth violence and what needs to happen to make Leicester and Leicestershire a better area for young people to live in. Young people will take this research and turn it into action, creating opportunities to make their community a safer, fairer place.
Importantly, the findings will be shared locally and nationally to help inform youth service delivery and policies.
Go-Getta CIC are passionate about stopping violence amongst our young people and this project will see us building on current and previous work we have delivered with young people including deterring them away from ASB and criminality through mediation, mentoring and anti-knife crime workshops and assemblies.
