Giving Loughborough young people a platform to be heard

We have spent the last few months working with a talented group of young people from Loughborough. Through workshops and youth work sessions, over 30 young people were supported to explore the causes and impacts of serious youth violence, and use their ideas and voices to write and record tracks to convey their lived experiences. The outcome was two amazing tracks; ' Loughborough Life' and 'Blame it on the Streets'. Both songs highlight the stories of these young people, providing insight into their realities. These young people or "changemakers" wrote, produced and directed the project from inception to completion, with the vocal performance delivered by two local young talents; Arpey (aged 20) and DeDe (aged 11). Arpey not only wrote, produced and directed on the project from inception to completion, but was instrumental in inspiring and mentoring younger peers on the project to participate.

The young people had the opportunity to work with ClutchMedia; a London company on their music videos, which can be viewed on our YouTube Channel at https://www.youtube.com/@goget...

The Leicester Mercury also covered the work on this project which can be read here:https://www.leicestermercury.c...

This project has been supported and funded by the LLR Violence Reduction Network and Streetgames Midlands.
